2026 Workshop Season

Each summer La Muse hosts a series of intimate week-long workshops led by writers, artists, and movement practitioners from around the world. Set in our grand old house in the Montagne Noire, these programs offer a rare combination of structured creative guidance and the freedom of a retreat — a chance to deepen your practice, meet fellow artists, and let the landscape of the Languedoc inspire your work.

Digital Detox
June 15 – 22

Digital Detox

Step away from your inbox, your phone, and the endless scroll. This retreat invites artists, writers, and makers to immerse themselves in their work, spending a week in the quiet French countryside with uninterrupted time to start, complete, or dive deeply into a project.

Art director, certified yoga instructor, and published author Artem guides participants through their individual creative practice and organizes inspiring group discussions by the fire in the library or outdoors in the serene landscape. Each day begins with gentle sun salutations and meditation to awaken the body and center the mind. Throughout the day, optional individual and group sessions provide support, inspiration, and space to experiment with new ideas.

Evenings are spent on the secluded terrace, sharing conversation, experiences, and starry skies with fellow participants. Whether the goal is to start or finish a project, finally disconnect from devices, or simply be fully immersed in creative work with no pressure or distraction, this retreat offers the perfect environment to do so with freedom, focus, and a touch of magic.

Writing with the Senses
July 13 – 20

Writing with the Senses

Step into a week designed to make your writing vivid, alive, and unforgettable. Writing With the Senses explores how words can become colors, textures, sounds, and sensations in a reader’s mind. Drawing inspiration from painting, music, cinema, and the natural world, this workshop guides writers in translating perception into prose — so that a madeleine melts, a train barrels toward the platform, or a character’s heartbreak hits with full emotional force.

Each morning focuses on a different sensory medium. Participants study imagery through painting and photography, explore movement and rhythm through cinema, discover musical techniques to shape sentence and story, and connect with nature to sharpen observation and deepen emotional resonance. Sessions include discussion and writing prompts designed to expand creative tools, helping writers convey emotion, master imagery, and harness rhythm and pacing in their prose.

Afternoons offer time for generative writing, walks, and reflection, with opportunities for group feedback. The week culminates in a literary salon, ideally outdoors, where participants can share work and celebrate discoveries. By the end of the week, writers will have strengthened their ability to create scenes that readers can see, hear, and feel — crafting sentences that move with rhythm and intention, and conveying emotions with precision and depth.

Cinematic Screenwriting
Aug 3 – 10

Cinematic Screenwriting & Visual Storytelling

Have you ever noticed how the visuals and color treatment of a film or series can make you feel a certain way — almost as if the colors themselves are guiding your emotions? Consider the whimsical Amélie, filmed in a carefully curated palette of warm reds and greens that reflect the protagonist’s inner world, or the bold vintage oranges and blues that have become a signature of Wes Anderson’s films.

In this original screenwriting and visual storytelling workshop, participants will closely examine the motifs and dramatic functions of color through the lens of a favorite fairy tale — like the use of red in Snow White — develop a personal interpretation of meaning, and learn to convey message and mood through characterization and structure.

This workshop is intended for a range of levels — whether amateur or professional screenwriter, materials are adapted to each person’s unique experience and progress. In addition to sharpening creative development talents, participants will engage in practical exercises to learn and perfect the art of pitching a screenplay and discover which actions to take throughout the creative process to advance a project forward.

Embodied Creativity

Embodied Creativity: A Somatic Workshop for Artists

Set within the nourishing and supportive container of La Muse, Embodied Creativity is designed to gently guide artists out of overthinking and back into the intelligence of the body. This immersive experience weaves together movement, stillness, breath, reflection, and community to support creative flow from the inside out.

Each morning begins in our dedicated practice space with an inclusive yoga session accessible to all levels — suitable for those new to yoga as well as seasoned practitioners seeking depth. These thoughtfully sequenced group practices help ground the nervous system, open the body, and cultivate presence. Through intentional movement, meditation, and guided breathwork, participants reconnect with sensation, intuition, and embodied awareness as foundations for authentic creative expression.

Following meditation, participants receive journaling prompts crafted to spark inspiration and bridge inner experience with artistic process. Afternoons are intentionally spacious and unscheduled — artists are free to create, explore the surrounding environment, rest, collaborate, or simply be. Optional evening dinners provide a relaxed opportunity to gather in community, often leading to unexpected collaborations and creative breakthroughs.

Embodied Creativity is an invitation to slow down, tune in, and remember that the body holds deep insight and clarity. When artists create from a place of presence rather than pressure, inspiration can be met with steadiness and trust rather than an idea to chase.
