PAINTING IN NATURE – June 16-23, 2025
Oil, Acrylics, Gouache
ALL LEVELS
Workshop Fee: 800 Euros & Room Rate
I hope you will consider joining us for a life changing adventure. I will be leading this serene 7-day “Painting in Nature” small group workshop at one of my absolute favorite locations in France, La Muse, “A Place of Creation Suspended in Time”. It is nestled in the heart of the village of Labastide-Esparbairenque. I will be offering guidance in capturing light, texture, and the unique atmosphere of the French countryside.
There are plenty of places to explore for non-painters too.
Each morning, Troods will gather with participants on the lush grounds of La Muse, surrounded by the beauty of the Black Mountains, ancient trees, and the soft melody of birdsong. She will guide you in selecting tranquil spots to set up and encourage you to immerse yourselves in nature’s inspiration. If you prefer to take reference photos and paint inside, there’s an art atelier (workshop) too.
The retreat begins with a peaceful welcome, introducing everyone to the relaxed, creative atmosphere. Each day offers a balance of instruction, with Troods sharing techniques for capturing light, texture, and the spirit of the landscape, followed by plenty of open time for personal exploration of your own artistic voice. Afternoons are filled with creative sessions by the river, in the nearby forests, or perched on a hillside overlooking the village.
In the evenings, the group gathers on the terrace for casual, supportive discussions around their work, sharing ideas over provided aperitif (local wine and appetizers). The ambiance is one of camaraderie and growth, where everyone can unwind and connect deeply with the natural surroundings, the creative process, and each other. The retreat is as much about personal reflection and mindfulness as it is about painting.
By the end of the week, participants have not only developed new artistic skills but have also forged meaningful memories and connections with the landscape and fellow artists. The retreat culminates in the La Muse Atelier for an art exhibit showcasing the week’s work, celebrating each person’s unique interpretation of the area’s beauty. There will be a wine and cheese reception.
